The Origin of the Future Culture Industry, which will be created through the cultural seeds of 600 years in Seoul
‘Seoul Digital Kyujanggak’ is a future exhibition library that combines food, clothing, and IT industries, starting from the concept of Jeongjo’s Kyujanggak. It is the origin of the culture industry for Seoul citizens and creative class sharing the cultural seeds of 600 years in Seoul. If the existing library is defined as a humanistic repository of past time through the compressed medium a.k.a books, ‘Seoul Digital Kyujanggak’ will be the cultural-industry-seed library for the future that displays the humanities and technology in our lives in the form of condensed culture and art, and that produces new industry through the process of multi-faceted communication. It will be a resting place for citizens and tourists, and will become an inspiration center for cultural creation.
The architectural concept is the pavilion of time. The cross point of the past, the present, and the future. Since it is a place where historical memories are overlapped from the Joseon Dynasty to the modern times, it adopts an open structure that can be seen through everywhere.
서울 디지털 규장각 – 문화종자 도서관
서울 600년 문화종자로 만들어가는 미래 문화산업의 발신기지
‘서울 디지털 규장각’은 정조의 규장각 개념에서 출발해, 의‧식‧주와 IT산업을 접목한 미래전시도서관으로서, 서울 600년 문화종자를 중심으로 서울시민들과 창조계급자들이 함께하는 문화산업의 발신지다. 기존의 도서관이 책이라는 압축된 매개체를 통 한 지나온 시간의 인문학적 보관소라고 정의된다면, ‘서울 디지털 규장각’은 우리 생활 속의 인문학과 테크놀로지를 응축된 문화‧예술의 형태로 전시하고, 다각적 소통 의 과정을 통해 새로운 산업을 생산해내는 미래의 문화산업 종자 도서관이다. 서울 시민과 관광객들의 휴식처이며, 문화창작을 위한 인스퍼레이션 센터가 될 것이다.
건축 개념은 시간의 파빌리온. 과거의 길, 현재의 길, 미래의 길이 교차하는 장소. 조선시대부터 근현대까지 걸쳐 역사적 기억이 중첩되어 있는 장소로, 사방으로 관통해서 볼 수 있는 열린 구조를 채택했다.
