Seaside Accommodations for the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics
The loop-shaped structure secures voids within the building to maximize the impression of spaces extracting the panoramic view of its beautiful surroundings. The concept of the project is a strip of healing or recreation. Inspired by the little organisms living deep under the sea, the design is based on the ecological structure of the plankton, which forms a circulating band and a substantial space frame simultaneously.
This resort hotel will be located at Gangneung, which will be held the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics. After the completion of the hotel, it is considered to be used for conventions involved with the Olympics, even for the participating players.
The building is composed of condominium and hotel with four seasons pool in the air at the belt of the building. It has two cores and has two crossed slopes along each exterior wall linked to the main body. The seaside area in front of the building is featured with low level buildings and divided pools which form a village. Inspired by the traditional Korean housing, Hanok, reinterpreted Hanok-type duplex accommodations are lined up with retails like restaurant, cafe surrounding the Marina-type community pool at the center. This accommodations is a resort-type hotel which is specialized for both marine leisure and mountain activities at the same time.
